![]() ![]() On April 3, 1769, Andrew Montour, an Indian interpreter who had provided service to the English settlers during the French and Indian War, was granted one of the first land patents for approximately 350 acres (1.4 km 2) of what later became the borough of Coraopolis and Neville Island. Each settler claiming land in what is now Moon Township had to go through a multi-level process of application for grant, warrant of property, and survey to ensure the physical boundaries of the property, and patent approval whereby the applicant paid for the land and title was conferred. Settlement processes were often convoluted because of differences among land policies of the several colonies claiming the land, specifically Pennsylvania and Virginia.Įach colony had its own means of either granting or restricting settlement opportunities. But, some of the land encompassing what is now the Coraopolis Heights, Thorn Run valley, and Narrows Run valley were claimed through the process of "Tomahawk Improvements", a non-specific and oftentimes contested method. Generally, the Pennsylvania Land Office apportioned land to owners through grants. On the southern banks of the Ohio River, political disputes among settlers clouded the disposition of lands. In the face of this turmoil, Native American settlements of the south bank of the Ohio River typically relocated to more populous areas of the north bank in the current locales of Sewickley and Ambridge. In some cases, the land was already occupied by squatters who were to be forced off the land. During the French and Indian War ( Seven Years' War), the Iroquois, who controlled the land for hunting grounds through right of conquest, ceded large parcels of southwestern Pennsylvania lands through treaty or abandonment to settlers. ![]() ![]() ![]() The initial settlement of Moon Township was a direct result of the westward expansion of English settlers and traders who arrived in the Ohio Valley in the early to mid-18th century. The population was 27,261 at the 2020 census. The township is part of the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area and is located 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Pittsburgh. Moon Township is a township along the Ohio River in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. ![]()

But despite popular concern for the demise of mall space, critical urban scholarship has largely sidelined the phenomenon. ‘Dead malls’ are now a staple of North American (sub)urban landscapes, and have provoked local activism in many places. As retail logistics globalizes and big-box power centres replace enclosed shopping malls from the postwar era, a distinct form of social infrastructure vanishes as well. ![]() We argue that many malls have effectively become community space, and activism to prevent its loss can be understood as a form of anti‐globalization practice, even if it never employs that language. An entire category of urban space, albeit hardly recognized as such, is disappearing across North America. Taking the case of the Morningside Mall in an old suburb of Toronto, we investigate the informal claims made on mall space through everyday spatial practice and the explicit claims for community space that arise when that space is threatened. In this article we investigate the revolution in logistics that has provoked the phenomenon of ‘dead malls’ and the creative activism emerging that aims to protect mall space as ‘community space’. This is particularly true in declining inner suburbs, where poor and racialized communities depend more heavily on malls for social reproduction as well as recreation and consumption. ![]() Spatial practice often exceeds the conceptions of designers and managers, transforming malls into community space. We want to have space to produce new ranges – more WW1, Marlburian, more Ancients which are easier to de-mould than big vehicles – giving my elbow and wrist a chance to recover! The sale, if any ranges are sold, will include vehicles that we never released to retail – GSP Ferry, various bridgelayers, Titan, Trojan, Warrior AOP, MiG 27, MiG 31, Tornado IDS and ADV, Bo 105 to name a few. Some aircraft of which we had made models appearing as UFOs in newspapers a year or two later! The QE carrier and its' alternative were two massive models that we made on the 90s. This led QRF into Defence contracting and making models of future and concept vehicles, aircraft and ships. Occasionally we would make the master as we sat alongside the 1:1 vehicle. All of them were made either from plans provided by the manufacturer or from the real vehicles which generally we were permitted to sit on, or in and photograph. We are proud of what we achieved with the ranges, all the vehicles ( post 1970s ) were used as recognition models by Armies around the world ( British, Dutch, French, Norwegian, Australian, US, Pakistan, to name a few ) and were as accurate as Military Recognition Cells could get them. The larger the tactical level, the less realistic games became and ended up as wall-to-wall tanks, with infantry coming 19th on the list of priorities. The skirmish version of FEBA and East of Suez was the limit of my gaming. In fact, the size of it and the business it produces is the very reason that it has to go – to give my RSI a rest! What also influenced the decision was my own lack of interest in the ranges, despite being ex-Army, I have never been that interested in representing modern warfare on the tabletop. This has never been affected by the toy company and its' strange rendition of modern warfare. Not because it is not making a profit – it is! It turns over approx £60.00 GBPK p.a and has done since we started to downsize the business 3-4 years ago. The range will come out of production on the 31st January 2020. We have had a lot of calls regarding our plans for the QRF modern ranges, but no expressions of interest for buying them.
